Henderson will take up the post of head of strategic partnerships and will sit on the firm’s executive committee.

He also spent 23 years in Asia, building the firm’s Asian asset management business.

Barr and Witter said they were delighted to be adding an individual of Alexander’s profile, skills and experience to the firm they had launched in June

Barr was most recently a senior adviser to Henderson's Alternative Strategies trust, and was a senior portfolio manager at Janus Henderson Investors for 18 months following his 14 year stint at Aberdeen Standard Investments.

They said in a statement: "Alexander brings a wealth of asset management expertise and complimentary institutional relationships to our business. His appointment will enable Bread Street to build on its strong momentum to date, and position us well with institutions looking to provide their clients with innovative private markets products."

Bread Street Capital Partners covers private equity, infrastructure, private debt and real assets markets and specialises in broadening investor access to global private markets.

Henderson added: “I am pleased to be joining Bread Street Capital Partners at a key development stage for this exciting private markets business.

"Institutional investors, wealth managers and intermediaries are increasingly focused on providing their clients with the diversification and returns that private markets deliver - with access to deal flow and their focus on specialist products, Bread Street are exceptionally well positioned to partner with these groups.”
