Perspective bolsters assets with latest acquisition

Adviser consolidator Perspective Financial Group has acquired a Wiltshire-based financial planning firm, brining its total assets under management to £2.7bn.

The purchase of Goodman Financial Planning in Marlborough is Perspective's fourth acquisition this year and the 35th since it launched in April in 2008.

Goodman Financial Planning will add £20m in assets under management to the consolidator and its founder Peter Goodman will retire after 25 years in the business.

Ian Wilkinson, group managing director of Perspective Financial Group, said the acquisition was part of the consolidator's growth plans to buy client banks from retiring IFAs local to its existing offices, as well as opening new locations across the country.

He said: "It reinforces our position as the consolidator of choice for IFAs looking to retire and exit the industry.

"We believe our offering for these types of business is very compelling with our strong client-centric, ethical approach providing an excellent home for the retiring IFA’s clients, and our appealing deal structure."

In May Perspective established its first office in London following the acquisition of financial planner Thornton Springer Financial Services, adding three advisers to the group.

Mr Wilkinson has previously spoken of the group's growth plans to include its in-house training academy, with intentions to double its current 20 students over the next two years.

Peter Goodman, founder of Goodman Financial Planning, said: "It was always going to be a difficult and emotional decision to retire as we felt a strong sense of responsibility towards our clients who we have got to know well over many years.

"However, having had a long standing professional relationship with Perspective’s office in Marlborough, I have seen at first hand their approach and am confident our clients will benefit from their additional expertise and greater resources. I have heard nothing but good reports about them from everyone I have spoken to."
