Alder’s last permanent predecessor was Charles Randall, who also had a background in law before becoming a member of the Bank of England’s Prudential Regulation Committee in April 2013.
Randall took up his post at the FCA in 2018, leaving a year early in spring 2022. Since then, interim chair Richard Lloyd has looked after the role.
