Alternatively, that after we leave the EU, the UK government can safely ignore such a judgment as it was not concerned directly with the UK.
But what many policymakers must be hoping for is that the Court chooses not to side with its Advocate General, having weighed up arguments put to it by various member states including the UK, in which case the problem goes away.
