At one time it seemed every provider would offer an offset or flexible mortgage.
Post credit crunch, availability of offset mortgages has reduced slightly.
Nonetheless at the time this guide was produced there remains a good range of lenders offering this type of deal.
At the end of 2016, Christine Newell, mortgages technical director at Paradigm Mortgage Services, flagged offset products were available from the following lenders but not all were available through the intermediary channel: Accord, Barclays, Beverley Building Society, Chelsea Building Society, Clydesdale Bank, Coventry, Cumberland Building Society The Family Building Society, First Direct, Hinckley & Rugby, Melton Mowbray, NatWest, Norwich & Peterborough, Scottish Widows, Vernon Building Society, and Yorkshire Building Society.
Within this number, there is a variety of products available for customers wishing to use an offset mortgage.
Some providers also offer family offset mortgages, which can help people to help family members with mortgage costs by storing some of their savings in an offset account linked to a relative's mortgage.
Which? Mortgage Advisers has produced a guide for consumers who want to help a child or another family member get on the property ladder and for whom a family offset, rather than a different product, such as a guarantor mortgage, might be appropriate.
