Patterson added: “In general, we would argue that there is still an overall pensions gap in the UK for both men and women – despite the success of auto enrolment, people are still not saving enough.
“It is true that women’s salaries are on average lower than men’s and therefore the pension gap is increased, however as a nation we all need to discover the savings habit again.”
