Her responsibilities on the Episode Growth fund will be taken over by Craig Simpson, who is presently a manager on the M&G Multi-Asset team.

The fund has returned 16 per cent over the past year, compared with 13 per cent for the average fund in the IA Mixed Investment 40-85 shares sector in the same time period, according to data from FE Analytics, for the year to December 19.

Over the past five years, the fund has returned 41 per cent, compared with 38 per cent for the average fund in the sector in the same time period.

M&G stated there will be no changes to the funds objectives.

Jack Daniels, chief investment officer at M&G, said: “Through her involvement in mentoring both inside and outside of our organisation, Jenny has been a role model for our industry.

"One of her passions has been to encourage young women, in particular, to continue studies in mathematics and economics and she has been an inspiration to many within the business who have, and continue to, follow in her footsteps.

"I would like to thank Jenny for her contribution on behalf of our customers who have benefited from her expertise.”
