Colin Rodger, director at Alexander Sloan, added that the focus should be income and how to achieve this from a pension fund. “The flexi-access rules have thrown open the doors to pension funds, but what I think most people want is a way of getting a reasonable income from their fund.
“What would be useful is product innovation in pension income, which would make pensions distinctive from Isas.”
